Extend Your Camcorder Battery Life
If you follow a simple set of rules with your camcorder battery, you can extend its life span quite dramatically, and ensure you get the maximum time each use. The following steps all assist in doing this:
Storage
Many types of batteries discharge during any extended storage period and this will also result in a lack of performance. It is advisable to give your camcorder battery a workout every few weeks to extend its life. Should you not exercise your camcorder battery for a long period, you should follow the procedure for breaking in your batteries again.
Break in New Batteries
When you first buy a camcorder or a new battery, you need to break in the battery. This is done by fully charging, then fully discharging, the battery a number of times. A good tip is to always leave the battery in the charger overnight before its first use.
Always completely discharge every few weeks
If you camcorder battery is always charged when there is a small amount of charge left, the battery will "forget" that it can use all of the space available to it. This will result in far shorter usage times of the battery. To prevent this, ensure you give your battery a complete discharge and recharge every few weeks.
Keep them clean
It is a good idea to keep your batteries clean at all times. If the battery contacts become dirty, you can clean them with a cotton bud and alcohol. Be sure to blow off all dirt/sand particles first to avoid scratching.
Carry a spare Camcorder Battery
There are many reasons to carry a spare camcorder battery, especially in today's age where the battery supplied when you purchase your camcorder lasts under an hour. There is nothing more annoying than running out of battery life before you even finish a tape, and believe me, this is very easy to do.
Owning and carrying a second camcorder battery can come in very handy when you need it.. even more so when that camcorder battery has an extended life. I personally start filming with my extended life battery, and carry the toy battery supplied with the camcorder as the spare.
If you plan of taking holidays, especially camping trips where no ready source of power is available, you should also carry at least one spare battery. Aside from the spare, a good idea is to also carry a 12v recharger, or alternatively, an inverter (converts 12v car battery power to mains) so that you can recharge your batteries on the run.
Don't be left wanting with camcorder battery life. There are special moments you wish to capture every time you have your camcorder out, and without a spare battery you miss out on capturing these forever.

camera battery usage tips
1. A new battery usually comes in a discharged condition and with a very low capacity. It is generally recommended to fully charge new battery packs before use. Refer to the users’ guide of your electronic device for charging instructions.
2. A new battery pack needs to be circled (fully discharged and recharged) three to five times to reach its optimum performance.
3. Rechargeable battery will undergo self-discharging when left unused for a long period of time. Thus, it should always be stored in a fully charged state and kept in a cool, dry and clean place.
4. To maintain the optimum performance of a battery pack, it is highly recommended to circle (fully discharging and recharging) it at least once a month.
5. It is normal if a new battery gets warm when being charged or used. However, close attention should be paid if the battery pack becomes excessively hot. This may indicate there is a problem with the charging circuit of the electronic device. So, it is necessary to have it checked by a qualified technician.
6. New batteries are hard to be charged. Sometimes, your electronic device may indicate a fully charged condition about 10 to 15 minutes when the new battery pack is being charged for the first time. When this happens, remove the battery pack and let it cool down for about 10 to 15 minutes then repeat the charging procedure. Sometimes, a new battery will suddenly refuse to be charged. If this happens, it is then suggested to remove the battery from the device and reinsert it.
To better use your battery, please take care of the precautions listed below:
1. Do not modify or disassemble.
2. Do not incinerate or expose battery to excessive heat, which may result in an exposure.
3. Do not expose battery to water or other moist matters.
4. Do not pierce, hit, step on, crush or abuse the battery.
5. Do not place battery in device for a long period of time if device is not being used.
6. Do not short circuit the terminals or store your battery pack with metal objects such as necklaces or hairpins.
